String Orchestra
Tupelo High School Orchestra Department is home to the Tupelo High School Golden Wave Orchestra and the Golden Wave Quartet.
The Golden Wave Orchestra is composed of 7th-12th grade string instrumentalists (violin, viola, cello, and string bass), this is NOT a beginner course. These groups compete statewide, regionally, and nationally. Students collaborate with University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, and Belhaven University.
The Tupelo High School Golden Wave Orchestra performs four major performances a year. The orchestra also performs at Celebration Village, Lafayette Oxford University (Ole Miss), MSU Strings Day, Tupelo Children’s Symphony, Mississippi All State Honor Orchestra, as well as our elementary schools in our district.
Our orchestra members also have the opportunity to play in the North Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra and the LOU Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Quartets perform at various community events from holiday events, weddings, art galleries and more!
