Vocal Jazz

The Tupelo High School Madrigal/ Vocal Jazz Choir is an award-winning, advanced, auditioned ensemble which regularly performs throughout the Tupelo community  performing a diverse, academic, and multicultural selection of music. The choir regularly travels to compete in both local, state  and national choral competitions throughout the country.  During the academic year, the Madrigal-Jazz Singers partake in quarterly concerts with various ensembles within the Tupelo Public School District. The highlight of the fall is the THS Madrigal Singefeaste which continues an annual tradition that began in 1974. The choir performs approximately  thirty five concerts from October 20 to January 1.  The ensemble also regularly participates in the MHSAA State Performance Assessment, Solo and Ensemble Festival and the Acappella Invitational at Briarcrest High School in Memphis, TN.  In February, the choir sells singing Valentines to the community for a fund raiser.  The choir has many students each year that are selected for the Mississippi All State Honor Choir.  Each year the ensemble competes in a national choral competition giving our singers the opportunity to sing and compete amongst some of the nation’s top high school choral ensembles and gives students the opportunity to travel and sing in the country’s most beautiful concert halls and colleges. Past competitions have included San Antonio, Disney World Orlando, Washington D.C., Chicago, and St. Louis.   The Mad-Jazz choir has performed at festivals around the U.S. and continues to earn the highest honors.  The choir consistently earns first place in the Madrigal, Vocal Jazz and Concert Choir divisions and has been awarded the Adjudicators Trophy multiple times.
