Varsity/Bel Canto Choirs
Bel Canto This is a year-long course offered to 9th-12th grade female students. The core curriculum is a deeper exploration of vocal technique, music theory, and music history through the study of a wide variety of choral music written for women’s voices. Students participate in at least one evening concert each quarter as a major part of their grade. The choir attends the State Choral Assessment each year and travels to regional Singers learn to develop their individual sounds to achieve the best choral blend. Their name, meaning ‘beautiful singing” in Italian, was chosen to represent the beautiful, even sound and blend that is achieved by women’s choirs. Students develop musicianship and performance skills through solo and ensemble singing.
