Mississippi Whole Schools, a program of the Mississippi Arts Commission, is Mississippi's first comprehensive statewide arts education program which uses the arts as a vehicle for promoting high quality instruction and learning for students in all disciplines. Students learn academic concepts through arts-based instruction.
 
To become a Mississippi Whole Schools Model Campus, there are many requirements for a school. The following are some of the required items:

  • High implementation of arts integration
  • Extensive training through the Whole Schools Initiative.
  • Commitment to arts integration
  • Change of school culture
  • Artist in Residence
  • Letters of Support
  • Newsletters highlights art experiences and/or arts integrated lesson plans

Being a model school since 1998 in an arts forward district helps us bring the engagement and imagination into the classroom daily for our students. This approach to teaching brings our staff closer together in a collaborative way to develop exciting arts integrated lessons that leave a long lasting impact on our students and their families.
