Take 20 Reading Campaign
Reading is “brain food” for our children. Reading “feeds” our children with knowledge and a broad vocabulary. It fosters a love of books and learning.
TPSD is launching a reading campaign this year called “Take 20” encouraging parents/guardians to listen to your K-3rd grader read aloud for 20 minutes nightly and to be sure your child’s daily logs are signed. Look for weekly messages on simple reading strategies via text messaging, FB posts, Twitter posts and on our digital billboards.
Remember, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. We thank you for supporting this initiative.
TPSD's "Take 20" Tip of the Week
TPSD's Take 20 Tip: When listening to your child read aloud, questioning helps children to think about what they’re reading as they’re reading. After every few paragraphs, model how you reflect on what they have read: “What will happen to the . . .”, “How does the dog feel now that . . .”.
