TPSD Names Assistant Superintendent

Andy Cantrell, Asst. Superintendent The Tupelo Public School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Andy Cantrell as Assistant Superintendent. Mr. Andy Cantrell has served as the Director of Operations for Tupelo Public School District since May, 2014. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a major in Secondary Education in 1993 and received his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi in 2002. Prior to joining the Tupelo Public School District, from 1995-1999, Mr. Cantrell taught U.S. History and Honors Mississippi Studies at Aberdeen High School. Mr. Cantrell also taught 5th grade U.S. History at East Amory Elementary School from 1999 – 2006. In 2006, Mr. Cantrell became the Career and Technical Director for the Amory School District. Then in 2008, he became the Transportation Director and Operations Director for Amory Public School District.
Mr. Cantrell has been married to Kendal Murphy Cantrell for 23 years. They have two boys, Reece (14) and Brooks (5). He is a member of the Amory Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor recreation.
