Mississippi Whole Schools, a program of the Mississippi Arts Commission, is Mississippi's first comprehensive statewide arts education program which uses the arts as a vehicle for promoting high quality instruction and learning for students in all disciplines. Students learn academic concepts through arts-based instruction.
 
To become a Mississippi Whole Schools Model Campus, there are many requirements for a school. The following are some of the required items:
  • Application
  • High implementation of arts integration
  • Extensive training through the Whole Schools Initiative.
  • Commitment to arts integration
  • Change of school culture
  • Artist in Residence
  • Letters of Support
  • Newsletters highlights art experiences and/or arts integrated lesson plans

What It Means to Joyner...

Becoming a model school has made us truly examine our teaching in a way we have never done before. We have become closer as a staff and look forward to the opportunity to share our amazing student work and experiences with other amazing educators.
