Frequently Asked Questions for Potential Students at ECEC

Is my child eligible to attend ECEC? Any child who is four years old by September 1st that lives in the Tupelo Public School District attendance zones is eligible to attend ECEC.

How do I register my child? We begin placing children on the informational list in January. You may call our office at (662) 840-5237. Once you are placed on our informational list, you will receive monthly email updates about when to provide documents such as your child’s birth certificate, immunization record and proofs of residency. Screening for incoming students takes place in late May.

What are the school hours? Students may enter the building at 7:15 am. The instructional day begins at 7:40 am; all students should be present by that time. We dismiss at 2:25 pm. We follow the Tupelo Public School District calendar.

Is transportation available? TPSD offers bus transportation to and from school for ECEC students. Students also have the option to be a car or daycare rider.

Does my child have to be toilet trained to attend ECEC? Yes, students must be toilet trained to attend ECEC.

What curriculum is used? We use the Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines for our students. These include the standards for pre-kindergarten students in Mississippi.

When are children accepted into the program? We inform families of acceptance into our program in June.

If my child is placed on a waiting list, will he or she be able to get in? Yes, we maintain a waiting list throughout the school year. If a slot opens during the year, we will fill it with a child from the waiting list.
