No Child Left Behind Report Cards One of the provisions of the U.S. Department of Education's No Child Left Behind Act requires that school districts closely examine standardized test results across nine groups of students. In Mississippi, the standardized testing program includes the Mississippi Curriculum Test in grades 3-8, Writing Assessment in grades 4 and 7, and subject area test in Algebra I, Biology I, English II with Writing, and U.S. History.
To help parents in determining the success of their children on the various state tests as well as the general success of their children's school and district, the No Child Left Behind Act mandates that parents be provided with "Report Cards" that contain state, district, and school results across each of the nine student groups that include at least 40 students in the group. Parents may want to consider comparing their student's individual state test results to the overall results of their child's school, as well as the district and state results. Results are reported in four achievement groups identified as minimal, basic, proficient, and advanced.
