Rankin is beginning its eightieth year of existence, opening its doors to students in the year 1929. Excitedly, this is the first time in history that Rankin Elementary School has hosted third through fifth grade students. It is just one of the four third through fifth grade schools in the Tupelo Public School District paired to a sister kindergarten through second grade feeder school. Rankin's K-2 feeder school is Joyner Elementary.

Rankin has numerous accounts of outstanding academic acknowledgement in the state as well as nationally. It was the first elementary school in Mississippi to have internet access in all classrooms. Rankin was also recognized as a prestigious national Blue Ribbon School in 2001. During the 2009-2010 school year, Rankin will continue to build on its past successes as it faces, new, exciting educational experiences.

As we anticipate an exciting and productive school year, presently the "Rankin Racers" are setting goals to achieve during this new educational adventure. The racers are setting their pace as short-term goals are already being met, while discovering the levels of teamwork that it takes to successfully pass the relay baton from one racer to the next.
