Welcome to Milam Elementary School, Home of the Ripples! Our motto is "Where Kids Come First." The mission of Milam is to serve our community by providing a quality education where students are learning, achieving, and succeeding. The vision we have for Milam is to provide instruction in a safe, orderly environment to ensure that all students perform proficiently on state tests. An enrollment of 500 is expected for the 2009-2010 school year. With the reorganization of schools, Milam will serve all sixth grade students in our city. Milam students will be grouped in pods and taught by teams of four teachers. Milam has one team of two teachers. New to Milam this year will be classes in Pre-AP Language Arts, Spanish, and Band. Milam students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of after-school activities which may include chorus, art, chess, creative writing, physical fitness, and intramural basketball.
Milam enthusiastically supports the district's mission of being the best district in Mississippi and one of the best in the nation. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment of inquiry that will empower our students to become actively engaged lifelong learners and productive citizens of an increasingly complex world.
