Parking decals can be purchased in the security office (H109) on Tuesdays and Thursday from 10:30 to 1:15. Requirements to purchase a decal are a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and tag number. Decals should be displayed on outside back window lower left side. Security officers at the guard booth will check for decals on student’s vehicles that arrive late. Vehicles without decals will be towed at owner expense. 
 
Today the cafeteria will be serving:  chicken nuggets, hamburgers and chicken vegetable soup w/grilled cheese.
 
Student directories can be purchased from Mrs. Gannon in the main office for $5.
 
Seniors: If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please see Mrs. Gannon in C building to pick up an order form. The cap and gown rental fee is $35. There will be a $15 late fee in addition to the rental fee for orders turned in after March 31st.
 
Congratulations to the THS Concert and Symphonic Bands for their Superior Ratings at the State Band Festival!
 
Boys State - If you are a junior and interested in applying for Boys State, come sign up in Mrs. Morgan's office in C Building by April 1st. Boys State will be held Saturday, May 29 – Friday, June 4. Go to www.msboysstate.com for details.
 
Attention Juniors & Seniors:  You are invited to “Dance under the Crescent City Moon” at the 2010 Tupelo High School Junior-Senior Prom on Saturday, March 27 from 9:00 pm until midnight at the Tupelo Furniture Market—Building V.  Invitations/Tickets will be on sale for $10 each in the cafeteria this week and the week of March 22-26 from 11:15 am to 1:15 pm.  Invitations must be presented at the door by either a junior or senior of Tupelo High School.  Formal attire is required, and there will be no admittance after 10:00 pm.  If you have any questions, please call Donna Rumbarger at 662-231-4167.
 
Anyone interested in trying out for cheerleader needs to sign-up in Ms. Johnson's office in H building today. There will be a mandatory parent meeting for anyone wishing to try-out on March 30th at 5:30 in the THS gym.
  
ALL SENIORS: Portraits for the yearbook are due today. Please turn your senior portrait in to Ms. Fernandez in room A122 with your first and last name printed on the back. Senior pictures will NOT be taken after this date!
 
Mothers on a Mission “Teen Parent Banquet” – March 20th at 6 p.m. at the Bouldin Building (across from the Women’s Hospital). Admission is free. Call 871-3789 or 871-3358 to make reservations (space is limited). This is a semi formal event, so dress nice. The deadline to register is March 13th.
 
The Science Enrichment Program at MUW is pleased to offer a Women in Engineering Workshop for 8th-12th grade female students. This workshop is absolutely FREE and is for any female student that has an interest in the field of engineering and physics or has a curiosity about a career field they may not have ever considered. The workshop will be held on the campus of MUW in Parkinson Hall On March 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students may register for this workshop by visiting our website (www.muw.edu/sci_math/sep/). Click on "forms" on the homepage, then click on "youth forms" on this page.
 
Millsaps International Cultural Awareness Program (ICAP):
 *2 week summer program cultivating cultural awareness and international understanding.  
*Includes a 5 day trip to the Yucatan.
*Deadline is March 15 to apply.

*Upon completion of the program, students will receive an International Cultural Awareness Certificate from Millsaps.  If you decide to attend Millsaps, you will receive a $1000 per year renewable scholarship.
 
Lifeguard Certification Classes held at Rob Leake City Pool. Spaces are limited in each of the classes so sign up today. Dates of each of the classes are as follows:
March 18 - 21
April 1 - 3 (only accepting a small group to avoid Easter)
April 29 - May 2
May 13 - 16
 
Excalibur members’ event on Monday, March 22nd during 6th period and TA. We will be having a lecture lunch with Dr. Kent-Fist from the MSU science dept. Come by Mrs. Wright’s room to sign up or for more information. You may also bring a guest.
 
The Rural Medical Scholars Program is an exciting summer opportunity for academically talented students between their junior and senior years.  The program encourages high school students interested in pursuing a career as a family medicine physician.  Funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 20 talented students from across the state will be given the opportunity to attend Mississippi State for 5 weeks this summer (May 30 - July 1), take 2 pre-med courses, and observe doctors at practice.  There are no charges to the Scholars.  Tuition, room, and textbooks are all provided by the program.  Applicants must have a minimum composite ACT score of a 25 to be considered.  You will complete 7 college credits if selected.  If interested in applying, go to www.RMS.msucares.com or see Ms. Morgan in C Building.  Deadline to apply is March 22nd.
 
Yearbooks go on sale after Spring Break! The cost is $55 & can be purchased March 22nd thru April 2nd during 4th, 5th, & 6th lunch. A table will be set up in the cafeteria. The 2010 annual theme is "Tupelo - Like Never Before"... this yearbook will definitely be like never before - the best THS has seen!! There will not be any extra yearbooks ordered so be sure to buy yours!
 
BAPTIST COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES cordially invites you to their High School Campus Visit Day on Saturday, March 27th from 9-1:00 p.m..  You will have the opportunity to meet with faculty in all academic areas, tour the campus and instructional labs, meet with financial aid and admissions representatives, and interact with current students.  Please call the Admissions Office at 901-575-2247 to make your reservation.
 
Tuskegee University, located in Tuskegee, AL, invites you to attend their Spring 2010 Open House on Saturday, March 27 from 8:30-4:00.  This program will provide an opportunity for you to meet the faculty. staff and students.  There will be and Academic and Student Services Fair, Open House Entertainment, Lunch, Tours and Music and Activities on the Yard.  For more information and a registration form, see Mrs. Thomas in the Counseling Center.
 
College Prep Scholarship for Juniors:  Allows students to access opportunities through one application including 10 full scholarships to college summer school programs at Emory University, Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pennsylvania, or Yale University. Go to Questbridge.org to apply by March 29th.
 
Seniors: Deadline for completing honor letter and hall of fame applications is March 31st at 3:30. Completed hall of fame applications must be turned in to Mrs. Sharon Davis (B204) and completed honor letter applications must be turned in to Mr. Mitch turner (A135). Credit will be given only to those activities that are verified by a full signature of the sponsoring faculty member.
 
NMMC STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM--2010:  Each summer North Mississippi Medical Center opens its doors to students who are interested in helping their community.  This is an opportunity to work with patients and staff in numerous areas throughout the NMMC system.   If you are interested in becoming a student volunteer for the summer of 2010, see Mrs. Thomas in the Counseling Center for an application.  The deadline to submit your application is March 31st.
 
Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation is currently accepting applications. NEMYF is a youth directed foundation, in an effort to involve young people in community development. The meetings are held on Sunday each month at the CREATE office in Tupelo. There is almost no cost on the student’s part to participate. NEMYF is looking for applicants that demonstrate the characteristics such as strong leadership qualities, time commitment, trustworthy, responsible and able to work well in groups. If you are interested, please see Mialee Billingsley, Lizzie Brevard, Wells Hannah, Jane Alice Moore, Stephen Stone, Chloe Weibel, Hannah Wilson or in the counselors’ office for an application. Applications are due March 31st.

ICC MASCOT TRYOUTS-- Are you a spirited person?  Do you love ICC and want to promote team spirit?  Then ICC wants you.  Come tryout for the ICC mascot position and let your school spirit shine. 
HOW: A mixture of music will play and you have that time to display your best spirited routine.  REMEMBER: MASCOTS DO NOT SPEAK!

Attention ALL SENIOR BIGS for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi please apply for the Champions for Children/Mississippi Mentoring Scholarship at www.msmentoring.org.  ANY hours of service to children count toward this scholarship.  If you did VBS in June and have been a big this year, you most likely have the number of hours you need.  Directions are written on this 2009 application.  Please call Angie or Sarah for more details.  Applications are due April 1st.

Anchor/Key Club Members: Buy your ticket for the 2010 Sweetheart Banquet on Thursday, April 15th. Tickets are $8 for a single and $15 for a couple. Hurry to purchase your tickets by April 2nd!
 
OLE MISS SPRING VISIT DAY:  High school students (especially juniors) and their parents are invited to Ole Miss for a campus wide open house on Saturday, April 10th from 8:30-3:00.  Free T-shirts will be given to the first 250 students signing in on campus.  There will be musical entertainment and the opportunity to visit the downtown Square and William Faulkner's home, Rowan Oak.  To register go to www.olemiss.edu/admissions .
 
STARTALK--The University of Mississippi StarTalk Program is an intensive Chinese language program for high school students.  The following are the criteria for the program:
*Must complete the application
*Must submit a transcript, with ACT, SAT or PSAT scores
*Must submit a letter of recommendation
*Must submit an essay of 500-750 words

Millsaps International Experience: 10-day summer program designed to cultivate cultural awareness and understanding of developing countries. June 14-24, 2010. Cost $2600 includes 4 nights at Millsaps college in Jackson, Mississippi, 5 nights at the Millsaps College Yucatan campus in Merida, Mexico; 1 night at Milllsaps College's 4000 acre bio-cultural reserves, Kaxil Kiuic. For more information see Mrs. Osborne in A104 or call 1-800-352-1050.
