Built in 1937, Church Street Elementary School was the first elementary school in the Tupelo Public School District. Church Street School has had two historic visitors, President Franklin Roosevelt and President Harry S Truman. A scale model of this Art Deco structure was displayed at the 1939 New York World's Fair as "the ideal elementary school". The building, built through the Works Projects Administration, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Church Street School is one of five schools that serves children in grades kindergarten through two. At Church Street Elementary School each child is viewed as a person who needs to be celebrated, nurtured, and challenged. We want our children to love learning. We encourage kindness and hard work as positive behaviors that will serve our children through their lifetime. To ensure a sense of belonging, we strive to know our children well. Our hope is for the child and the school to become a perfect fit.

Second Grade Wax Museum News Image

Our second graders did a great job in the wax museum! Students chose a historic figure to reserch and then memorized a few important facts about that person's life to recite during the wax museum. Many of our students dressed up like their historic figure. We had a Benjamin Franklin, Martha Washington, Rosa Parks, President Obama, and many, many others. We are so proud of our second graders! Great job!

Family Literacy Night was a great success and the Book Fair was a hit! Parents learned ways to improve their child's reading skills and then had a chance to shop and buy books at the Book Fair. We also had food provided by Lenny's and Bonanza. It was a great night for our parents and our students!
