“My Love for You” By Jonathan Bryant 5th period
My love for you have been seen,
My love for you is better then any bling,
My love for you is like none other,
And I’m not doing this just to get under the cover.
My love for u is just what it is love, but where did it come from the ground or up above.
My love comes from my heart
Not a little or a part
But the whole thing.
What you do to me is one of kind?
That’s why I have to make you mine
My love for you is just what it is.
So, my love means more then a kiss.
“How the Whole School Knew” By Radeon Mallard 1st period
Me not listening in class, was a hard thing for me.
I made a 36 average grade in art, can’t you see.
I’m sitting here wondering, what the gossip was
about here at school.
Turns out it was about my grade, well I felt just like
a fool.
I’m sitting here wondering how they knew, I guess
my attitude gave them a clue.
Earlier that day, only a few people knew, later that
day the whole school knew.
“Scary” By Alyssa Thompson 2nd period
Have u ever woke up
In the middle of the night
Have u ever watched a scary movie
Then sleep in a fright
Have u ever been in that mist
Something u just can’t miss.
Have your momma ever scared u
Then u say momma it’s not fair to.
Have u ever woke up out of a dream
Then u know it’s just a scene.
Now u Know not to scare anyone
Or to be scared of someone.
Be brave like your parents say
Then sleep away sleep away.
“Who Are They to Blame Just Because They Look the Same?” By Micheal T. Curry 2nd period
Who are they to blame just because they look the same?
Are they to have shame just because their parents can’t remember their name?
Are they to get mad just because their friends that it’s a game?
But to them they are like the colors black and white or day and night.
So should they take all the blame and shame just because they look the same?
“Trapped Inside My Dreams” By Katie C. Weathers 3rd period
My heart is crying out its soul,
The world is ending as we know;
The island of hope and sea of dreams,
Has nothing to offer me but beams;
Hourglass lake is just a mistake,
And the world all knows that it is fake;
My cries for you seem so real,
My heart is heavy like I cannot feel;
The dreams of wonder the dreams of hope,
They came alive and then I spoke;
I spoke of wonder hopes and dreams,
But apparently it was only real to me;
The wondrous land that I have spoke,
No one understands the joy of a poke;
The emptiness we feel as I and you,
The devil and angel crying out boohoo;
All of it real or not one way to find out is to seek a plot,
To seek a plot you must find one way or another you’re left behind.
“I Can’t Write a Poem!!” By Tyasia Reed 1st period
Mrs. Koon is making me write this
ridiculous poem, which I don’t know
why.
I don’t like writing them so why should
I try, she knows I hate them, I’m not shy.
Like them, hate them I don’t like either one,
So I’m going to sit here and have my fun.
How does she do what she do, I’m not
writing this poem and I don’t have too.
So there it is and there it is again, I’m not
here to write poems, I’m here to make friends.
“Tupelo Insanatary” By Josh Terrell 1st period
I have a friend, his name is shadow
He follows me every where I go!
I talk to him and he talks back,
But no-one believes me and some
Think I’m crazy that’s why he’s the
only friend I got.
We talk in public
a lot and people stare and laugh a lot.
That’s why I like this place they took me to
there’s people there who like to talk to there
shadow friends too.
The people who work there bathe me, feed me,
and give me little pills too.
And at night they tighten me in a little warm
jacket till I can’t move, then they put me in a
cold little brick room.
But it never gets lonely
cause I got my shadow friend to talk to.
“My Nephew” By Chasity Crayton 3rd
I loved my
Sweet, sweet nephew
Though the times I
Saw him were few.
His smile was
Very enlightening,
But the news it
Was frightening
It felt like a
Stabbing in my heart
I felt so close to him,
But yet so far apart
His mom called us
Two days later,
And I tried my best
Not to hate her.
He died on
June 10, 2007.
The only thing that
Comforts me is to
Know that he’s
In heaven.
“A Miracle” By Hunter Pennington 3rd period
It was a bright sunny day
And a boy riding his bike,
His daddy yelling, “Hey lets go on a hike.”
There were cars driving fast up and down the street.
Mothers and daughters walking in the heat
As I continue to walk, I see my friend approaching me.
As we began to talk, life around us seem to come to a halt.
People are running and screaming, so we run down the street,
and notice a poor soul lying down in the street.
As we walked closer, we noticed a little girl.
She’s been hit by a car that may have ended her world.
Someone call the ambulance, as she lay in a trance.
Off to the hospital she went without another moment spent.
When we arrived at the hospital the doctor said,” It’s impossible for her to live.”
I cried and I cried as I prayed to God who forgives.
I asked him, “Was it really her time to go, she has so much to still show.”
As I continued to pray, and stood at her bedside God touched her body, and she opened her eyes.
“Black Man” By Zach Allen 4th period
I’m a black man,
I’m a black that can see,
I’m a black man who has dreams,
I’m a black man but not Martin Luther King,
I’m a black man not rich or poor,
The world may make a black man seem mean,
But that’s not me, no that’s not this black man,
Because I have dreams, I’m black with a way,
This black man is me, Zach Allen,
I’m proud to be Black.
“My Excuse Poem” By Maisha Freeman
My head hurts.
I am sleepy.
My stomach is hurting.
Can I go see the Nurse.
I don’t feel like.
My hand is hurting.
Do I have to do this.
Its almost time to go.
May I go to the restroom.
I don’t know how to write a poem.
I am brain dead.
Times up? Oh no!
All I have is this list of excuses.
You like it? Really? Stop playing.
Thanks a lot!
