

A Profile of Excellence 2004-2005
Tupelo High School is a two-time recipient of the U. S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon Award and is one of only twenty-four public high schools in the nation to receive a Cum Laude chapter. Through collaboration with parents as well as the community at large, Tupelo High School shares its commitment to excellence with the vibrant community of Tupelo. Hand in hand, the community and the school support each other in striving for the highest possible realms of excellence. THS’s ultimate objective is to maximize the available talents and resources to the greatest advantage of both the students and the community. The students are the reason for Tupelo High School’s existence, and they, in turn, will shape the future of Tupelo.

The mission of Tupelo High School is to nurture and inspire the intellectual, emotional, and physical growth of each student in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment.
Student Activities
The Tupelo Public School District has an extensive Crisis Management Plan. The district crisis team, which meets periodically with the Assistant Superintendent, is composed of a representative from each school, the district school psychologist, security personnel, nurses, and policemen. In addition, Tupelo High School’s crisis management team meets monthly to ensure that district policies and procedures are being implemented. Monthly fire and tornado drills are performed, and crisis bags are provided for each classroom. During each faculty meeting the crisis management representative reviews policies with faculty and staff. In short, the goal of the Tupelo Public Schools is to maintain safety and security for all students and staff.
