The third AR goal period begins Monday, October 27, 2008 and runs until 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 21, 2008. Students must have 85% average on all tests, earn the points that were assigned by the teacher, and have read books on the range that was assigned. The ARMY will bring the rock wall, and students who met this goal will get to enjoy caramel apples too! Gobble up great books and reach new heights in reading this goal period!
Lawndale Elementary uses Accelerated Reader as a supplemental reading tool to encourage and monitor reading. AR makes essential reading practice more effective by personalizing each student's reading practice with appropriate individual reading ranges. Students are assigned a range based on their diagnostic performance on the STAR test. Students then choose books appropriate for the reading range and read the book. After the book is finished, students take a quiz, and the teacher gets a TOPS report with the results of the test. The overall goal of AR is to build a lifelong love of reading and learning.
