Student Assessment
The Office of Assessment provides district-wide support for students and teachers through the assessment process. The areas of assessment performed in the Tupelo Public School District include Early Prevention of School Failure in pre-kindergarten and first grade, On the Mark Assessment for grades above first, the Mississippi Grade Level Testing program that includes Mississippi Curriculum Test and the nationally norm-referenced Terra Nova in grade 6. The Terra Nova is also administered in first through eighth grade with the exception of grade 6; in order for the district to establish national data comparisons, the Subject Area Testing Program which is part of the graduation requirements and Mississippi Career Planning & Assessment System. Both the statewide and district assessment processes establish assistance in planning instruction that meets the educational needs of children.
