While investigating another matter today (December 6, 2007) on the campus of Tupelo High School, school administrators discovered an unloaded handgun in a student’s backpack. The handgun was not displayed nor was it seen by any other student on the campus, and no student’s safety was ever directly threatened. In accordance with TPSD policy, the student was immediately suspended and turned over to local authorities.

Officials of the Tupelo Public School District are very serious about our responsibility for the safety of all students, and we are committed to ensuring that every student is provided with a safe learning environment. Your support of our schools is very much appreciated.
