TPSD Administrative Assignments Announced

Acting upon the recommendation of Dr. Randy McCoy, Superintendent of Schools, today (June 26th) the Tupelo Public School District Board of Trustees approved the assignment of the following people to administrative positions in the TPSD:
- Ms. Christy Carroll, Principal of Lawhon Elementary School
Ms. Carroll is a graduate of Blue Mountain College and earned her Master’s
and Specialist degrees in Education from the University of Mississippi. She
has 14 years of experience as a regular and special education teacher in the
Lee County School System.
- Ms. Kay Collins, Principal of Church Street Elementary School
Ms. Collins earned Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist degrees in Education
from the University of Mississippi. Ms. Collins has taught for a total of 27
years—3 years in the Lee County Schools and 24 years in the Tupelo Public
Schools. In Tupelo she worked in Media Services at Church Street Elementary School and taught Reading, English, Spelling, and Social Studies at Green Street/King Elementary School. In addition, she taught Gifted Education at Milam Jr. High School, Tupelo Middle School, and Church Street Elementary School. For the past 13 years, Ms. Collins has served as a teacher at Church Street.
- Mr. Larry Harmon, Director of the Fillmore Center
This year Mr. Harmon will assume the responsibilities as Director of the Fillmore Center after having served as Principal of Carver Elementary School for the past
4 years. Prior to coming to Carver, Mr. Harmon taught physical education and served as an assistant football coach and head baseball coach at Tupelo High School for 17 years. Mr. Harmon earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education
from Mississippi Valley State University and his Master’s Degree in Education
from the University of Mississippi. In addition, Mr. Harmon also taught 2 years
at Durant Attendance Center and 2 years at Kosciusko High School.
- Ms. Kimberly Britton, Principal of Carver Elementary School
Ms. Britton graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and earned
both Master’s and Specialist Degrees in Education from Mississippi College.
She has 12 years experience in education having taught 7 years in the Jackson Public School District and 2 years in the Greenwood Public School District.
Ms. Britton has also served as an Assistant Principal at Tupelo High School
for the past 3 years.
