The largest and oldest academic competition for high schools in Mississippi is the annual Math and Science Tournament that Mississippi College has hosted for thirty-one years. The tournament was initiated with the intent of promoting science and mathematics in high schools through a spirit of competitiveness like that in athletic events. 

 

The Tupelo High School Math and Science Team won 1^st place overall in Friday’s State Math and Science Competition at Mississippi College in Clinton.

 

             Jackson Academy placed 2^nd

             East Rankin Academy placed 3^rd

             54 schools were in competition on Friday

            Adrian Turner – 1^st place, Biology

            Jinjing Huang - 1^st place, Math and Physics

            Stewart Brevard – 2^nd place, Biology

            Matt Hink – 2^nd place, Physics

            Ben Kellum – 3^rd place, Math
