THS Wins 1st Place in the State Math and Science Competition

The largest and oldest academic competition for high schools in Mississippi is the annual Math and Science Tournament that Mississippi College has hosted for thirty-one years. The tournament was initiated with the intent of promoting science and mathematics in high schools through a spirit of competitiveness like that in athletic events. 
 
The Tupelo High School Math and Science Team won 1st place overall in Friday’s State Math and Science Competition at Mississippi College in Clinton.
 
             Jackson Academy placed 2nd
             East Rankin Academy placed 3rd
             54 schools were in competition on Friday
 
Individual winners:
            Adrian Turner – 1st place, Biology
            Jinjing Huang - 1st place, Math and Physics
            Stewart Brevard – 2nd place, Biology
            Matt Hink – 2nd place, Physics
            Ben Kellum – 3rd place, Math
 
Top 10% in Math: - Megan Pike

            Jeffery Oliver
 
Top 10% in Biology: - Megan Pike

Top 10% in Chemistry: - Josh Tucker
