PARAMETERS AND GUIDELINES FOR USE OF SCHOOL FACILITES IN TUPELO SCHOOL DISTRICT
- Maintain the socioeconomic and racial diversity percentages at a variance of no more than ±5% of the composition of the community at each school.
- Maintain a 15:1 ratio in K-1 grades as well as implementing the school district long-range strategic plan of 15:1 in grades 2-3.
- Utilizing existing campuses have no more than four (4) schools in any grade configuration. Consider single school campus for a district-wide sixth grade school. Lawhon, which due to geographical location, could be considered as a standalone separate grade configuration. The strategic plan and capitol project needs for the district should address any additional facility requirements at each school. District school administration should evaluate the existing campuses to determine which facilities are best suited for each grade configuration for recommendation to the School Board and the Facilities Utilization Team.
- Grow the Early Childhood Education Learning Center and locate it on a single campus.
Additional Considerations
- Attempt to serve as many students as possible that reside within the walk zone of the school.
- Attempt to keep neighborhoods intact to the greatest extent.
- Coordinate each lower grade configuration school with a higher grade school so that parents will know the school their children will be attending if their residences remain unchanged.
