The 2nd grade classes have been involved in a study about RELATIONSHIPS. We have discussed how building strong, genuine relationships makes our classrooms, schools, and communities better places to live, work, and play. We build these relationships by being respectful to and encouraging one another, being responsible for our actions, and reflecting on our behavior and then making improvements where needed.
The students have spent time with classmates whom they would normally think they had nothing in common. However, when they were GOOD LISTENERS to each others' stories, they found that they did have things in common and were then able to compare and contrast their shared stories.
During this study, we have also discussed how important RELATIONSHIPS are among community service workers in providing our communities with safe and productive environments. We heard from a few of our brave Tupelo firemen about the important responsibility of building strong, trustworthy relationships with their team in order to provide their services to the community of Tupelo.
On October 10, we will attend a field trip at Camp Yokona in which the students will continue to build relationships with classmates and schoolmates as they participate in several "cooperation courses." The students will spend time working together and encouraging one another. We are very thankful to David Sorrell, a Rankin parent, who has volunteered to organize and head the activities for this trip.
