

On Monday, August 6, at the THS Performing Arts Center, TPSD welcomed approximately 1300 school employees back-to-school for the 2007 – 2008 school year. New teachers were recognized, and TPSD Board of Trustees Vice-President John Nail outlined the district’s goals for the year.
In addition, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Hank Bounds spoke concerning the Mississippi Department of Education goals via electronic media. Dr. Randy McCoy, TPSD Superintendent of Schools, addressed the importance of dropout prevention, customer service, and the district’s focus on continuing to include effective teaching of depth of knowledge in our academic program.
Dr. McCoy also showed the similarities between the “Tupelo Way” and the “Toyota Way”.
